🗣 Learn / Rehearse

Hide lines, hide stage directions and number lines

Damien

When you work on a text in Imparato, three display options are available in the settings, both on the app and the website.

They allow you to adapt the text display to your way of rehearsing.

Hide lines

The Hide lines option masks your own lines so you can truly test your memorization.

This is especially useful:

  • to challenge yourself during a rehearsal;
  • to check that you've really learned your text;
  • during a line run with your company: your lines stay hidden so you can play along without cheating, while the other actors' lines remain visible so you can prompt them if they forget their lines.

Hide stage directions

Stage directions can be essential when first discovering or staging a text, but they can become clutter when you just want to work on the dialogue.

The Hide stage directions option lets you mask them to clean up the display and keep only the essentials: the lines.

This gives you a clearer and more direct reading of the text.

Number the lines

The Number the lines option adds a number to every line of the text.

It's especially handy when several actors are working together and want to find a passage quickly.

No more searching:

"Let's pick it up from line 367."

Everyone knows exactly where they are in the text.

Where can you find these options?

These three options are available in the text settings on:

  • the Imparato app;
  • the Imparato website.

You can turn them on or off depending on your needs and how you work.
