🤔 Solve a problem

I have a sound problem during a rehearsal

Damien

I can't hear any sound

Check that the sound of your computer is enabled, that the volume is sufficient and that the audio equipment (headphones or speaker) is well connected.

To verify that your computer's sound is working properly through your browser, access a site that can produce sound (Spotify, Youtube for example).

If the problem seems to be specific to Imparato, please test the rehearsal on another play, for example any play in the Library.
If you have a problem with a specific play or line, please contact us at support[@]imparato.io and describe your problem and the play and/or line involved.

I can't hear the beginning of the lines

The option Reduce listening between my lines is active

In this case, Imparato cuts off large cues to save time by only letting you hear the last 10 seconds or so before your line, which may lead you to believe there is a problem when there is not.
A specific sound tells you that there has been a jump or a cue has been cut.

On Safari

On older versions of Safari (< 14), the first second of a line could not be heard. This problem seems to have been resolved, and the rehearsal has been tested successfully with Safari 15.4 and 16.3.
Please update macOS and/or your browser if necessary.

Auto-Play is disabled on my browser

In order for rehearsal to work properly, including with the auto continue option, Imparato uses the media auto-play feature that browsers allow to block. You must also keep Imparato's tab in focus during rehearsal, otherwise some browsers will not auto continue to the next line.

💡 In general, please make sure to regularly update your browser and operating system. In addition to fixing any bugs, you'll be less exposed to regularly discovered security vulnerabilities in browsers.

On Firefox

  • Open the browser's Preferences.
  • In the Search input, search for Permissions
  • Click on the Settings button corresponding to Autoplay
  • Make sure it is set to Allow audio and video, or that there is explicit permission for the site www.imparato.io

On Chrome / Brave / Chromium

  • Click on the lock 🔒 located on the left of the address bar, then on Site Settings
  • In the Authorizations section, check that AutoPlay is allowed

On Safari

  • Open the Safari menu then Settings for imparato.io.
  • Check that the Auto-Play is allowed.
  • You may need to open Imparato in a new tab or restart your browser.

I have a diction problem

I can't hear any sound

First of all:

  • Make sure sound is enabled on your smartphone. Check it with another application (Spotify, Youtube...)
  • Make sure you are using the Imparato application and not your browser on www.imparato.io. Indeed, mobile browsers do not allow auto continue lines among others to preserve the battery of your device. You must install the Imparato application from your phone's store to do rehearsals.

I can't hear the small cues

If all the lines are audible except the small lines (1 or 2 words long) it probably means that your phone is having trouble running the Imparato app.

To free up power, turn off all other applications and make sure that no automatic services (such as auto-subtitling on Android are enabled). Indeed, the activation of automatic subtitling can disturb the reading of sounds in Imparato and especially on short lines.

Rehearsal stops or the cue loading indicator spins indefinitely

This problem can have several causes:

  • The network coverage is too low to make the replicas download. Since this problem can significantly degrade the Imparato user experience, we recommend that you perform your rehearsals in a location with sufficient WiFi or cellular network coverage. We also recommend that you Enable rehearsals without network so that all rehearsals are available on your device as this greatly increases the smoothness of rehearsals.
  • Your phone is past its prime, doesn't have enough RAM (especially if it's an Android device) or its Android system software version is not up to date. We support Android >= 5 but recommend at least Android 7 and a device with at least 1024MB of RAM. Try to update the Android system on your phone. Once you have done this, make sure you have updated to the latest version of the Imparato application from the store.
  • You have an old version of the Imparato app and you do not have the latest improvements or fixes that have been made. Please update the Imparato app from your phone's app store.
  • There is an ongoing issue with our infrastructure that is preventing your device from downloading replicas. Please check our help pages for information about the incident.

In some cases, after a problem with the sound, the Imparato application may be in an unstable state preventing the rehearsals from being resumed (loading button running indefinitely). In this case, it is advisable to quit the Imparato application completely and then restart it.
