🤔 Solve a problem

The text stops at the first line

Damien

If it feels like things "stop" on the first line, don't worry: in most cases, that's normal.

Why does this happen?

Imparato is an app that gives you the cue to help you learn your lines under real rehearsal conditions.
And most importantly: Imparato gives you time to say your line.

So if you reach your line and nothing happens afterwards, it's very likely because the app is waiting for you to say your line (or validate it) before moving on.

The most common cause

The "Auto-advance lines" option is probably turned off.

Solution 1: turn on "Auto-advance lines"

If you'd like lines to progress automatically, enable:

  • "Auto-advance lines"

This mode is especially useful once you already know the text well and you want to work on flow, rhythm, or do a continuous line run.

Solution 2: advance manually

If you prefer to stay in control and take your time, you can move to the next line manually.

Option A — "Swipe to advance" (swipe)

If "Swipe to advance" is enabled:

  • Swipe right to left to move forward (to the next line)
  • Swipe left to right to go back

Option B — Shake your phone

If "Swipe to advance" is not enabled, you can:

  • Shake your phone to move to the next line

Which mode should you choose?

There is no single "best" mode. Choose what feels most comfortable:

  • You're still learning and want to memorize calmly → manual advance (swipe or shake)
  • You already know your lines well and want to run the scene smoothly → Auto-advance lines
