Import your first play
From the website, it's very easy to upload a text to your space.
⚠️ Important:
- your text must be in PDF format (not from a scan). Otherwise, you can enter your text manually
If you're wondering about the format your text needs to follow to be correctly understood by Imparato, know that Imparato is quite flexible, but we invite you to check our help section regarding the ideal text format in a PDF.
Upload the PDF file
- At the top of the screen, click the Create button then Create a text
- Select the I have a PDF text mode if it's not already selected
- Fill in the fields then drag (or click to choose) your PDF file
- Click Continue
- Imparato will prepare your text extracted from the file, identifying characters, lines, … This step can take up to 30 seconds (plus the time it takes to upload your file)
Edit the text and start vocalization
Once the text is uploaded and pre-processed, you'll reach the text editing tool.
- Make the necessary corrections in the text; there might be warnings or errors to fix. For more details on this stage, check our help on getting started with the text editor and editing a text.
- Don't worry if everything isn't perfect, you can also edit your text later (you just need to remove the errors)
- When you're finished, click Ready for vocalization?
- Assign each role a gender, Male or Female
- Start the vocalization. This step can take from a few minutes to nearly an hour depending on the length of the text
- You'll receive an email once the vocalization is finished, when the text is ready to rehearse on the site and in the app
- Well done, you've imported your first text!

- you must have your text downloaded on your phone and it must be in PDF format (not from a scan). Otherwise, you can enter your text by typing it from a computer at www.imparato.io.
- once your text is uploaded, depending on the case, you can either start rehearsing the text immediately, or you will need to log in to the www.imparato.io website on a computer to finalize the integration (start the vocalization of the text after making any necessary corrections yourself)

Uploading the PDF file
- Press the Import button at the bottom of the screen
- Select your PDF file
- Choose which company to import this text into, or leave it as My texts if you want to keep it for yourself
- Enter the play's title and its author (e.g., The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde)
- Confirm
- Imparato will prepare your text, extracting it from the file and identifying characters, lines, ... This step may take a few minutes depending on the length of your text
Once we've processed your text, you'll be able to access it. Depending on the situation:
- your text will already be vocalized, ready for rehearsal, and there's nothing left for you to do. Well done!
- a screen will ask you to confirm or enter the genders of certain characters, which will then trigger the vocalization of the text
- in rarer cases, processing errors may prevent the text from being prepared, and you will need to go to www.imparato.io to correct it and finish the processing yourself.
Correct the text and start vocalization on the www.imparato.io website
If your text encountered a processing error, a message in the app will invite you to correct it and finalize it on www.imparato.io
- The text finalization phase is only possible from a computer on www.imparato.io (using the same login credentials as the app).
- Make the necessary corrections to the text, addressing any warnings or errors. For more details on this phase, check our help guides on getting started with the text editor and editing a text.
- Don't worry if everything isn't perfect; you can also correct your text later (you just need to remove any errors)
- When you're done, click on Ready to vocalize?
- Assign a gender to each role (Male or Female)
- Start the vocalization. This step can take anywhere from a few minutes to nearly an hour depending on the length of the text
- You'll receive an email once the vocalization is complete, when the text is ready for rehearsal on the website and in the app
